Amid Skies

by mandaceehb

Through grey skies and into the stars

They skilfully navigate

Another dawn, another day

Over a different continent and sea

We look up to them from below

The silhouette of a structured bird in the blue day

Bright blinking lights in the night sky

Rushing noises taunt us who are bound to the earth

Too often we only get to wonder

Where they are going that we have yet to

Tropical sunny islands might they visit

Or cities locked in intense winter storms

Might they see exotic flowers that bloom in the spring

May tribes embrace them with dance and song?

Our imagination takes us places

But where have we been that we can really recall

When our minds call for us to reminisce and relive

Do the planes fly and take off?
