Glory

by mandaceehb

Not everybody wants to shine

This truly struck me today

Not everyone enjoys the sensation

Of fixated yellow spotlights

Warm and soft like sunshine

Tingling the skin

Making the heart pound with adrenaline and the soul come alive

Not everyone can harness an impressive performance

From the oppressive applause that thunders from the audience

Not all of us thrive on that sort of glowing

Because

Some of us prefer

To hide in the darkness

The thick royal drapes offer

Bask in the unacknowledged glory of the unknown

To be the shadows

That deepen where the light glares brighter

To watch others shine and know

To themselves- and that is enough

That they have shone as well
