coffeeshop heartbreaker

by mandaceehb

You shuffle

Tiny white envelopes

Standard-sized, smooth and nice

Idly with dazed eyes

In little cafés made of wood

More alive than you

The envelopes

They are laced at the edges

With amorphous heart-shaped black coffee stains

Like yesterday’s bloodstains

Liquid life wrenched from

A dozen hearts

The pain is not as royal

As your wine-stained lips
