It wasn’t you

But your words that

I fell in love with

Sincere truth echoing, echoing, echoing in an abyss

Your mouth creating and deforming shapes

The words wriggling in their cases (both upper and lower), gyrating with a life that threatens to burst-

Your words resonate with every fibre and cell

Breathe through my veins like a breath of ice in this perpetual summer heat

They shake me out of a living stupor

A cloudy mist in barren eyes

You unearth my heart of synthetic stone

One layer at a time, digging deep

I wander

But I would gladly settle and stay

If you build me a haven with human lips
